The laboratory, relying onBeijing Language and Culture University, achieved a major breakthrough from "none" to "established" for the university's key laboratory. The laboratory relies on the national scientific research platform of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Discipline Innovation and Talent IntroductionCCSLfor Language and Cognitive Science". President Li Liu personally provided guidance, with the Research Office organizing and coordinating efforts, and Professor Wang Jianqin from the Institute of Language and Cognitive Science leading the laboratory,CCSLon the university's advantages in discipline resources and assembling excellent research teams, focusing on the "language and cognitive sciences" field and successfully applying for the laboratory with the efforts of the whole school.
The key laboratory integrates three characteristic second-level disciplines of the Institute of Language and Cognitive Science's "Language and Cognitive Science," the School of Rehabilitation Medicine's "Language Pathology," and the School of Information Science's "Language Intelligence and Technology," with the cross-intersection and fusion of cognitive neuroscience, forming three comprehensive interdisciplinary research fields of "Language Cognitive Neuroscience," "Language Pathology and Cognitive Neuroscience," and "Language Intelligence and Neuromorphic Computing Research." These three research fields reflect the depth of the laboratory's innovation and integration of language and cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, computer science, and the university's three characteristic disciplines.
The overall development goal of the key laboratory is to carry out research in the three comprehensive interdisciplinary research fields: First, research on Chinese language acquisition and cognitive neuroscience for foreigners, serving the national strategy of Chinese international communication and cultural development; Second, research on cognitive neuroscience for children with language barriers, practicing the "Healthy China" Initiative; Third, research on Chinese language intelligence learning and neuromorphic computing for foreigners, linking to the "China Brain Project" and serving the national strategy of scientific and technological innovation.
The successful approval of the "Key Laboratory of Language and Cognitive Science (Beijing Language and Culture University)" is a significant achievement for the university's discipline construction and scientific development. Following the relevant management regulations of the Ministry of Education's key laboratory, the laboratory will focus on technology innovation and technological development, implement an open and flexible operation mechanism, create a large team with an international academic perspective, establish open topics, innovate talent cultivation models, strengthen international cooperation and research, and continuously promote the university's cross-disciplinary construction and innovation.
