On May 25th, 2023, the Graduate Association ofCCSLheld an academic interview event titled "Dialogue with Masters". The special guest for this interview was Distinguished Professor and retired Professor from the University of New South Wales in Australia, Marcus Taft, who is also a distinguished professor at the Talent Introduction Base. The academic interview was moderated by Ph.D. student Zhijun Sun from the Base, and nearly 30 faculty and students from our school participated in the event.
The interview was conducted in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. Students actively raised questions and puzzles in study and research, such as the relationship and differences between behavioral experiments and brain imaging research. How to better apply the study of cognitive mechanism of language acquisition to real second language classroom teaching? In the current trend, how to adhere to pure behavioral research? How to face when the experimental results are not significant and so on.
Professor Taft communicated with the students enthusiastically and answered the questions raised by each student in detail. He gave the students profound inspirations and new insights on how to conduct experimental research, how to write experimental papers, how to conduct data analysis, how to view the relationship between scientific research and teaching and other issues, and they said that they benefited a lot.
In this academic interview, Professor Taft, an academic expert, had face-to-face and close academic exchanges with our faculty and students, providing valuable academic guidance and recommendations. This also further stimulated everyone's passion for academic exploration and scientific research.
