On May 24, 2024, CCSL organized a themed Party and League Day activity at Taoranting Park. Taoranting Park is a patriotic education base and a key cultural relic protection unit in Beijing. During the May 4th Movement, revolutionary pioneers such as Li Dazhao, Mao Zedong, and Zhou Enlai also engaged in revolutionary activities here. The central island houses the tombstones of the famous early Communist activist Gao Junyu and his late girlfriend Shi Pingmei.
The faculty and students first came to the tomb of Gao Junyu Martyr Gao Junyu to honor the martyrs and learn about his revolutionary deeds. As a steadfast Marxist, Gao Junyu devoted his entire life to spreading the revolutionary spark and actively disseminating Marxism until his final departure. Adjacent to the tomb of Gao Junyu, a "Compassionate Monastery and Red Newspapers" micro-exhibition was held in the corridor. The micro-exhibition presented in graphic and textual form the progressive publications founded and edited by early Communist revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Gao Junyu, as well as the significant articles they published at the Compassionate Monastery in Taoranting.
Next, they visited the Compassionate Monastery Revolutionary Memorial Hall, which has five exhibition rooms. In July 1921, Comrade Li Dazhao leased two rooms in the south hall of the Compassionate Monastery through his comrade Chen Yusheng, providing a hidden place for revolutionaries to communicate. From then until 1923, Comrade Li Dazhao utilized these two south halls for secret revolutionary activities.
In the exhibition halls, the faculty and students felt the revolutionary spirit left by the revolutionary pioneers and deeply experienced the patriotic fervor of Comrades Mao Zedong, Li Dazhao, Chen Yusheng, and others. They learned from the glorious history of the Party, remembered the struggle journey, and drew strength from it for the journey ahead. This activity strengthened the sense of mission and responsibility of Party members and League members, expressing their admiration for historical revolutionary figures. We should take the revolutionary martyrs as our role models, strive to understand history, increase our faith, uphold virtue, and take action. We should consciously combine learning with practice, growing into new-era talents capable of shouldering the important responsibility of national rejuvenation.
